Lily Allen "Hard Out Here"

Lily Allen says that the pressure to have cosmetic surgery after having her two babies inspired her controversial video. Some people have accused her of racism because of the way she uses black dancers who are "grinding away to make the rent" which is the view from "The Root", an african american online magazine. Lily Allen rejects the accusations saying the single is a satire on image obsessed pop, she relies to "The Root" that the video has "nothing to do with race" and that it is "meant to be a lightearted satirical video that deals with objectification of women within modern pop culture... the message is clear".
This video makes clear refferences to other artists and videos bringing up debate of casual racism in the music industry. Lily has a clip of her dancing under huge balloons which spell out "Lily Allen has a baggy pussy", this is taking the mick out of Robin Thicke's video which he has balloons spelling out "Robin Thicke has a big dick", in this video he also has girls dressed in bikinis dancing around him which is what Lily Allen is protesting against.

Costumes and Props

Character Name: Craig (Troy white)

Costume:
Casual and “slob” clothing to show sadness and depression of the character.

Character Name: Sean (Guitarist)

Costume: Casual dress: Jeans and a T-shirt
Props: jean, T-shirt and acoustic guitar
Character Name: N/A

The grey hooded jumper which the singer wears shows he is just a normal guy and the fact it is baggy shows the feel of depression and that he doesn't really care how he looks. We sourced this from a normal clothing shop.
The guitar player wears a shirt and tie to show how he is different to the singer and support the feeling of isolation and depression the singer feels. We sourced this from my partners own collection of clothing.
The acoustic guitar is simple and nothing special or "flashy" as it wouldn't fit in with the feel of the video. It was supplied by either the music department in the school or from my partner who owns this type of guitar.
